PCN Mental Health Clinicans

What is a PCN Mental Health Clinician?
PCN mental health clinicians are registered professionals offering a range of supports to individuals and families. They will work with you, providing time-limited support to help with the challenges and issues that you are facing in your life. They can also help connect you with services, support, and resources in the community.
If you require counseling, the clinician will work with you to help address your immediate mental health challenges in the short term, while helping you to build healthy coping skills for the long term.
The PCN mental health clinicians support individuals with mild to moderate mental health and social concerns. These are defined as mental health concerns that impact a person’s ability to engage in regular life activities, such as work, participating with family and friends, and carrying out daily tasks and routines. Typically, patients are able to engage in these activities to some degree but not to the level they prefer.

PCN mental health clinicians are available to provide short-term counseling support free of charge. Eligible patients can receive up to 8 x 50-minute individual sessions over the phone, via virtual sessions, and in-person meetings from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday to Saturday. * To learn more, simply ask your family doctor for a referral to initiate an intake with a mental health clinician.
Your mental health clinician utilizes solution-focused, brief therapeutic intervention and can support you with such issues as:
- Depression and anxiety
- Financial and housing challenges
- Transitions and navigating services
- Grief and loss, and
- Other life challenges
Mental health clinicians also provide education, coaching, resources, and workshops on mental health issues such as understanding emotions, conflict resolution, and anger management, and offer walking groups as well as mindfulness and relaxation skill sessions. Watch for these educational opportunities by checking the home page of this website, subscribe to our quarterly newsletter or follow us on Instagram or Facebook.
Please request an appointment with a mental health clinician by asking your primary care provider if a referral is right for you.
If you have already been referred to the PCN mental health clinicians and have questions regarding your registration or appointment scheduling please call their office directly at 604-328-0987
Should you or your family member need longer-term or more specialized services, other options are reviewed and discussed with you and communicated to the family or nurse practitioner as needed.

“I am extremely grateful for this programme. On reflection, I feel it has been the most valuable additional support I have received to date.”
