As parents and caregivers, ensuring the health and well-being of our children is a top priority. In B.C., the following vaccine schedule is important in protecting our children from preventable diseases.
DTaP: Protects against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough) and polio.
MMRV: Protects against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella. Measles can lead to serious complications, including pneumonia and encephalitis (brain inflammation). Varicella is the virus that causes chickenpox.
By vaccinating our children against these diseases, we not only protect them but also contribute to the community’s overall immunity, creating a safer and healthier environment for all. Access these vaccines at your local public health unit (North Shore: 604-983-6700) or your primary care provider.
