Fall means respiratory illness season, and vaccination is your best defense.

COVID-19 vaccines

COVID-19 vaccines are free for everyone 6 months and older. If you haven’t received your most recent booster, fall is the perfect time to update your protection. For more details, visit Immunize BC.

Where to get vaccinated?

Check with your family doctor to see if they offer the vaccine, or book a free vaccine appointment through Vancouver Coastal Health. You can also register for the Get Vaccinated Program to receive alerts and make booking easier at Get Vaccinated BC.

Pfizer, Moderna, or Novavax?

Wondering which vaccine to choose? Pfizer, Moderna, and Novavax are all proven to be safe and effective. Your healthcare provider will help you choose the right one for you, so don’t worry about picking the brand.

Why get vaccinated again?

Even if you’ve been vaccinated before, booster shots help your immune system stay strong and ready to fight severe COVID-19 disease.

What if you’ve already had COVID-19?

If you’ve recently recovered from COVID-19, you can get vaccinated anytime once you feel better. You can also wait 3 to 6 months, but getting vaccinated after an infection provides additional protection against severe illness in the future.

Do you need testing?

COVID-19 testing isn’t necessary for most people, but it’s recommended for those at higher risk of severe disease, such as pregnant individuals or people in the hospital. Testing helps healthcare providers determine the best treatment.

Should you isolate if you have symptoms?

You don’t have to isolate if you feel sick, but it’s a good idea to stay home until your fever is gone and you’re feeling better. Wearing a mask and washing your hands frequently also helps protect others if you need to be around people.

Influenza vaccines

Influenza, or “the flu”, is a viral infection that targets the nose, throat, and lungs, and can cause serious illness, especially in children and the elderly.

Who should get vaccinated?

The flu vaccine is available for free to everyone 6 months and older. It’s especially important for people at higher risk of severe illness, like children, seniors, and those with chronic conditions. More details can be found on Immunize BC.

Where to get vaccinated?

Start by talking to your family doctor or healthcare provider about your flu shot options, as they will most likely be able to provide it directly. Alternatively, you can book your free flu shot through Vancouver Coastal Health or the Get Vaccinated program.

Why get vaccinated every year?

The flu virus changes frequently, and annual vaccination ensures you’re protected from new strains.

Stay protected this fall with COVID-19 and flu vaccines!
