We’re excited to share the success of our first annual family physician-led conference for older adults on the North Shore, The Fine Art of Aging, hosted by the North Shore Primary Care Network. Held on March 7, 2025, at the Delbrook Community Centre in North Vancouver, this half-day event brought together over 150 older adults from across the North Shore.

The conference focused on providing practical, evidence-based health information tailored to the needs of older adults. Family physicians from across the North Shore delivered engaging presentations on relevant topics, including cognitive decline, cardiovascular health, strategic healthy aging, and planning for the care you want. A highlight of the event was the keynote address by BC Seniors Advocate, Dan Levitt, who spoke about the challenges facing older adults across the province, opportunities for change, and the important work of the Office of the Seniors Advocate. The agenda also included presentations from a local lawyer on estate and incapacity planning, offering attendees valuable legal insights for the future.

The response was overwhelmingly positive, with 97% of survey respondents rating the overall quality of the conference as “Excellent” or “Very Good.”

Some of the sessions were recorded and will soon be available on our website at www.nspcn.ca. Be sure to check back soon!

A few things attendees had to say:

  • “Very professional, informative, local, and free!”
  • “Seminars gave ‘actions’ to take, things we can do to age with health.”
  • “For a first seniors forum event, this was excellent! I will attend another.”

A huge thank you to our speakers and to everyone who attended. We’re proud to support and empower older adults with accessible, reliable health education.

Stay tuned for details about next year’s Fine Art of Aging conference – we look forward to seeing you there!
